PROFESSIONAL CAREER
Michelle joined KHPT in November of 2007. After her high school graduation, Michelle began academic
study at the University of Delaware and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1989. She also
received her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 1991. As her interest for teaching and education
grew, she pursued advanced academic study and recently earned a Doctorate of Science in Physical
Therapy through Temple University in August of 2007.
Michelle's career has been focused primarily on outpatient rehabilitation with an emphasis on orthopedics.
She has 16 years of clinical experience. She has completed the Cyriax based curriculum and was inducted
into the Orthopedic Society of England. She has also pursued education in the upper extremity by
participating in continuing education through the University of Pennsylvania. She was a member of the
Lehigh Valley Hand Society in Pennsylvania, which had an emphasis on upper quarter screening, anatomy
review through cadaver dissection, and lectures from hand surgeons on recent surgical interventions. She
has teaching experience in biomechanics of the upper extremity at Hahneman University in Pennsylvania as
an adjunct faculty member. In addition to the upper extremity, she has taken great interest in the spine and
lower extremity. She has participated in various continuing education opportunities, including the Maitland
approach to diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue lesions. She spent two years working solely with
work-related injuries that encompassed a large percentage of back-related injuries. She worked with
clinical coordinators of various nursing programs instructing and teaching on proper body mechanics with
lifting to minimize work-related injuries. In addition, she was the aquatics coordinator conducting programs
and treating patients with various diagnoses including: arthritis, orthopedic injuries, back injuries and
neurological disorders.
In the community, she educated residents of assisted living facilities about the importance of wellness.
She also provided wellness lectures and complimentary screenings to the surrounding communities on
proper footwear and spine evaluations. In the medical community, she taught with local orthopedic
surgeons with the emphasis on rehabilitation after orthopedic surgery. Michelle has a passion for
improving the wellness of her patients and treating them with quality care throughout the rehabilitation
process.

PERSONAL INFORMATION
Michelle grew up in Annapolis, MD and lived in Pennsylvania for 15 years. She now lives in Richmond, KY
with her husband and three daughters. Outside of Physical Therapy, she enjoys the outdoors, gardening
and spending time with family.
