The KHPT Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is a comprehensive, systematic, and objective process of assessing a worker’s ability to perform essential job demands. The results may be used to determine: return to work capabilities, possible job accommodations, the need for further treatment, residual functional capacity, and impairment ratings.
Our FCE features include:
• The Foundation: Based on the five hierarchical components of safety, reliability, validity, practicality, and utility.
• The Clinicians: Residence-trained “thinking evaluators
Physical ability testing is used to determine the physical ability of an individual with respect to that individual’s ability to perform a particular job. For example, an employer may want to evaluate whether an employee has the strength to lift an object or perform a certain work task. A physical ability test would be designed to simulate that task and assess the employee’s ability to perform it.
The results are used to make better work place decisions which can lead to fewer injuries, higher productivity and lower turnover.
A return-to-work program is used to help employees get back to work more quickly. When an employee is unable to work due to a work-related injury or illness, productivity falls and costs rise. The longer the injured employee stays out of work, the higher the costs for both the employer and the employee.
According to a study performed by The Hartford, employees out of work for more than 12 weeks with a work-related injury have less than a 50 percent chance of returning to work. That can have a significant impact on the life of the worker, on the amount of the workers compensation claim, and on the employer’s ability to find another qualified employee.
At KHPT, our therapists are specialists in ergonomic/industrial rehabilitation and can help you get back to work and back to life.
