Kentucky Hand & Physical Therapy is Central Kentucky’s
premier provider of outpatient industrial therapy, leading
the way in comprehensive, research supported, legally
defensible functional capacity evaluation.
Functional Capacity Evaluation
The KHPT Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is a comprehensive, systematic, and
objective process of assessing a worker’s ability to perform essential job demands. The results
may be used to determine: return to work capabilities; possible job accommodations; the
need for further treatment; residual functional capacity; and impairment ratings.

Features of our FCE

The Foundation: Based on the five hierarchical components of: Safety; Reliability;
Validity; Practicality; and Utility.

The Clinicians: Residence-trained “thinking evaluators” administer functional testing
protocols based on the most recently published, peer reviewed and court test literature.

The Report: Short summary report attached to full length report for quick review of
results.

The Extras: The GreenLeaf Evaluation System may be utilized to assist the physician in
determination of upper extremity impairment ratings.

Benefits of our FCE

Court-tested: Based on the Matheson system of biopsychosocial evaluation, testing
procedures and protocols have withstood legal scrutiny and been upheld in courts of law.

Custom Designed: Each FCE is custom designed and job specific. We do not use a
“canned” or “one size fits all” program!

Results: Results are objective, reliable, and always include statements regarding the
client’s physical effort and reliability.

Timely: Results are available 24 to 48 hours after testing.

No hassle scheduling: Our staff will obtain all of the authorizations necessary to
proceed with and schedule the FCE!
