FAQs

What is a Certified Hand Therapist?

A CHT is an occupational or physical therapist (OT or PT) with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy. A CHT has passed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and theory in
upper quarter rehabilitation.

What are the benefits of seeing a Certified Hand Therapist?
CHTs are professionals that have dedicated their careers to upper extremity
specialization. The CHT credential means that the therapist has achieved the highest
level of competency in the profession and ensures up-to-date knowledge & expertise in current upper extremity surgical techniques.

What’s the plan?
Working together with you and your physician, a dedicated KHPT therapist will customize your treatment plan to help you reach your goals. We want to return you to your prior level of independence – to get you back to your life!

We achieve this by providing a broad range of services including: comprehensive evaluations, manual therapy, home exercise programs, postural screening, custom splinting, work injury care, acute care, and pain management in an open, positive and fun environment.

How long will I need therapy?
This is a common question asked by many patients. Although the question itself is a simple one, the answer is much more difficult. The answer is … it depends. Each person is different and therefore, each heals at a different rate.

Pain level, motivation, treatment program compliance, and a person’s general health all contribute to recover rates. Your therapist should be able to give you an expected timeframe for therapy after your first visit.
